The Assassin's Enemy Lover

Chapter 308

His mother, on the other hand, was very dismissive shutting him down with the words, “You said I should be nice to him now I am and you are asking me so many questions. Han Han, what do you want from your mother?”

Zi Han, “???”

He knew that there was some manipulation in her words but he had indeed said that so.... yep.

The six of them had the most amazing day creating family memories. What surprised Zi Han the most was that his mother was smiling more and seemed to really enjoy Lin Ruoxi’s company.

He finally realized what his mother had been missing. She had been missing a kindred spirit friend. Okay, okay.... kindred spirit might be the wrong choice of words because the only thing they had in common was the need to protect their kids.

Zi Xingxi was a trigger happy part-time assassin with a temper and Lin Ruoxi was a kind-hearted yet frugal businesswoman monopolizing the fashion industry behind the curtains. In essence, they were polar opposites but somehow they had the opportunity to be best friends.

He was really happy that his mother found a friend in Lin Ruoxi. Zi Han had been looking at his mother arguing with Lin Ruoxi about muffins and frosting when a poppyseed muffin showed up in front of him.

“Who do you think is right?” asked Yi Chen while scooching closer till their shoulders were touching. Yi Chen’s hand glided on Zi Han’s thigh as he stared at him with affection in his eyes.

.....

Zi Han would have heard Yi Chen’s question if it weren’t for the fact that the man’s hand was crawling up his thigh with sinister intentions. Most would say, ‘Oh no Zi Han, it’s an innocent touch on the thigh. Nothing sinister about that,’ but the man was kneading and rubbing while inching closer to his ahem....

“Huh?” asked Zi Han after glancing at that hand that was becoming quite unruly.

Yi Chen urged him to take the muffin but Zi Han refused. “Why? You don’t want it? We still have to go on the tunnel of love before dinner,” said Yi Chen taking the muffin away and peeling off the parchment paper.

Zi Han took a glimpse at those fingers peeling the paper of the muffin and bit his lower lip saying, “I want it but my hands are not working properly... especially after...”

Yi Chen leered at him from the corner of his eyes his expression overflowing with deep affection but his expression froze when Zi Han said this,

“The soul snatcher really left me trembling... Look my hands are still shaking.”

And here Yi Chen was thinking that Zi Han was referring to their bathroom escapades. Apparently, he was referring to the rollercoaster ride and he was saying it with a smile

Yi Chen chuckled while bringing up the muffin for him to eat, “Okay, then I will feed you.”

Zi Han bit into his heart warming up from the sweetness of the atmosphere. Unfortunately for Zi Han, this moment didn’t last. That’s because Lin Ruoxi said this,

“Practicing for your wedding I see.”

Yi Chen, “Mum! Aren’t you supposed to argue about frosting and muffins?”

Just like a sloth with a short attention span she completely forgot what she said and went back to the muffins. “A muffin with frosting is basically an oversized cupcake,” she said and of course, everyone refuted her including Ming Ming by the way.

“It’s most definitely still a muffin mum,” said Yi Youxi who hadn’t said anything all this time. He just wanted this muffin business to end.

“Let’s argue about it on the next ride,” said Zi Xingxi and Lin Ruoxi agreed. The only problem was that everyone seemed to be opposing her so as they walked over to the tunnel of love she decided to call a friend who she was certain would be on her side and that friend was her husband.

Marshal Yi was working on the documents for the mission tomorrow when his darling wife called. He showed a beautiful smile looking at his wife’s new hair cut. “You look, gorgeous baby,” he said only for him to hear his daughter talk about muffins.

Lin Ruoxi placed her finger on her lips gesturing for her to quiet down as they walked. “Honey, let me ask you something. Is a frosted muffin basically an oversized cupcake?” she asked but her choice of words had already controlled the narrative. Knowing his wife well the Marshal already knew what answer she wanted him to pick.

“Definitely an oversized cupcake,” he answered with a smile so big like he was expecting to get a reward later on. He was like a dog waiting for his treat after performing a trick.

In her excitement, Lin Ruoxi turned the camera around and said, “See that. I knew you were all ganging up on me. I told you it’s an oversized cupcake.”

Everyone, “...”

Marshal Yi, “...”

His ellipses were because he had seen two faces he didn’t expect to see. One was wearing sunglasses while carrying his daughter and the other was eating a muffin while walking alongside Yi Chen. Why were these two on an outing with his family? Why?

AN: Yes, why Lin Ruoxi? Why?

As expected he asked, “Why is-...” but before he could get that far Lin Ruoxi shut him down immediately moving the camera away before whispering,

“This has everything to do with our son’s future now shh. Will talk about it later.”

She immediately cut the video and flicked her hair trying to act casual before saying, “Are you all ready for the love tunnel.”

“No. Yuck. Let’s go to the haunted mansion,” said Ming Ming. For her, the love tunnel truly sounded soppy to her. She much preferred the haunted mansion. Unfortunately, she didn’t understand what her mother was trying to do here. She was trying to get these two together forever and she would do anything to fuel that.
