The Assassin's Enemy Lover

Chapter 125

He wasn’t certain whether the glass shard was lodged inside his flesh or not. “Does it hurt?” he asked as he raised his head to look at Yi Chen.

Yi Chen who had been looking at him this entire time swallowed subconsciously with his adam’s apple rolling. Seeing Zi Han worrying about him his chest felt so warm with his heart melting into a puddle.

He lightly shook his head as he clenched his fingers suppressing the urge to caress Zi Han’s cheek. “It doesn’t,” he whispered and Zi Han lowered his head taking out a kit from his interspatial storage to treat the wound.

“There are no serious injuries. Only minor ones,” said Leila after examining everyone, “most are suffering from shoo-.”

BAM!

A bloody blob of flesh torn off from a beast slammed into the barrier shaking the room. Loud screams filled the air as the terrified group of people cowered and moved away from the barrier as far as possible.

A bright red streak of blood appeared on the barrier obscuring their view of the outside. Yi Chen squinted his eyes while looking through the gaps in-between the smudges of blood on the protective barrier.

A tall beast with an exoskeletal structure, bright red eyes, and long tentacles was wreaking havoc in the streets of Capital Star. Despite suffering under heavy fire the creature kept pressing on dealing as much damage as possible.

.....

Suddenly a stinging pain coming from his shoulder brought Yi Chen back to the present. He drew in a cold breath of air as he turned to look at Zi Han.

“Sorry..... I should have warned you first that I was spraying the healing spray,” said Zi Han while pasting the largest band-aid in the kit onto Yi Chen’s shoulder.

Zi Han could feel a resentful gaze boring through his skin the entire time but he ignored Ikeda Yua. He had no time to worry about a little girl playing a cliche love triangle scene in her head. Granted, he gave her that impression but that was the job of a love shield. Just like a mosquito repellent, he was meant to repel love interests.

“Thank you,” whispered Yi Chen but Zi Han didn’t accept it. He packed away his things while saying,

“No need. You got hurt protecting me so I owe you.” Yi Chen wanted to say that Zi Han was here because of him but before he could say anything, Yi Feng called out to him,

“Ah-Chen, what do we do now?”

Yi Chen reluctantly turned his gaze away from Zi Han and said, “You come with me and Han Han will stay behind wit-,” but his voice abruptly stopped when Zi Han tapped the pendant on his neck, and black nanoparticles spread all over his body.

Before Yi Chen could stop him Zi Han leapt out of the shattered window and his mech engulfed his body in an instant.

Yi Chen, “.....”

Well, he should have expected that. There was no way Zi Han was going to stay behind. That was just wishful thinking on his part.

“Let’s go,” he said to Yi Feng before following after Zi Han. Yi Feng jumped over the bar counter and followed after them leaving behind a dissatisfied Leila. To be honest he thought Yi Feng looked hot jumping over the counter while activating his mech. It made her want to push him down even more.

Biting her lower lip she averted her gaze only for Ikeda Yua to fall into her line of sight. The resentment and maliciousness coming from her were good enough to have one fearing for their lives but what was the point?

The subject of her anger was hovering midair with a malicious grin on his face as he activated his cannon blaster ready to tear this beast apart. With a low clinking sound, the mech arm transformed as bounds of energy gathered in the muzzle of the cannon blaster.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Three successive explosions rang out within the chaos and the beast that had been fighting it out with a series of mechs turned its ugly head sharply glowering at him. The blasts barely scratched the beast as it remained steadfast.

With a crackling sound, it shot out three tentacles in Zi Han’s direction in retaliation.

His blood boiling from excitement Zi Han retracted the cannon blaster as he flipped backward dodging the spiteful tentacles trying to end his life.

As he flipped over he drew two swords and slashed at the tentacles. Like razor-sharp knives, the blades cleanly sliced through two of the three tentacles. With a splat, the fleshy parts slammed into the nearest building before falling to the ground.

Recalling that there was a third appendage shot at him before Zi Han became vigilant. Within the loud bellows of the beast, a leathery skin type of tentacle shot straight at his face.

Leaning backward he dodged the incoming attack. As the disgusting-looking tentacle shot past his face a high-pitched shing sound permeated the air as the appendage was sliced off cleanly by a red blade.

Zi Han straightened his back and he was met by a black and red mech standing tall beside him like a brave warrior leading his men to slaughter the enemy in battle.

“You can’t help yourself, can you?” asked Yi Chen as he swung his sword with blood dripping at the tip of its blade.

Zi Han glanced at the huge portal that had opened in the middle of the city and three beasts running amok like they had been sent to cripple Capital Star. “It’s my nature. I really can’t change it,” he replied before flying off to the middle of the chaotic battle scene.

Like before Yi Chen followed him into the fire without hesitation leaving behind a dumbfounded Yi Feng who was beginning to ask himself why he even followed. With all these military personnel it didn’t look like he was needed here.

Like her son, Zi Xingxi went straight into the Bermuda triangle where most of the danger was. Her thought process was to end this fight as soon as possible so she could go find her son. But who would have thought he would follow her example and head straight for the eye of the storm.

As her laser beam blasted half the monster’s face Zi Xingxi noticed a familiar mech stabbing right into the back of the beast. It let out a shrill cry and spun its head around with its mouth wide open as a long tongue shot out of its mouth and grabbed the ankle of Zi Han’s mech.

Zi Han let go of his sword stuck in the back of the beast and transformed the arm of his mech into a cannon blaster but before he could attack a light saber slashed at the tongue searing it into half.
