Primordial Dimensions

Chapter 251 - Cosmo

"Would you like to follow me on my journey?"  Shane was confident in the fact that the Lesser Starlet fox wanted to stay with him.

The only thing he was not sure about was if it would accept being under the control of his Innate taming Skill.

In the beginning, even Umbra had only reluctantly accepted him as his new master, but Shane hoped that it would be different this time.

At least, he felt that it would be much easier.

When he saw how the Lesser Starlet Fox that had been sitting on his shoulder looked straight into his eyes, Shane couldn\'t help but gulp in excitement.

\'Does that mean yes?\' He asked himself as he released his taming skill, which manifested a small, yet complex magic circle on the ground.

Shane thought that he should let the Lesser Starlet Fox decide for itself whether it wanted to become his tamed beast or not. Thus, he manifested the magic circle roughly one meter away from the small fox.

The moment after he had manifested the magic circle, the Lesser Starlet fox jumped back in fright and hid behind him. Shane thought it to be a beast\'s innate reflex as he tried to talk to it in the primordial language.

"I won\'t force you to do anything, but I would be happy if you can follow me and Umbra, the Horned Darkness snake you might have already seen!"

While Shane was trying to pacify the frightened fox, a small portal appeared on his right side through which the Old Emperor emerged.

Talia had created the portal for Kalur, who couldn\'t wait to find out how Shane\'s small world would change in the next few years.

As long as he could obtain enough funds to awaken its mana heart, the possibilities to the Hidden Paradise\'s advancement were endless.

This was also the reason for Old Emperor Kalur to gift Shane with the precious space door his daughter had manufactured.

He had never used the space door and felt guilty about it. However, there has yet to be a good reason to use it properly.

A very good opportunity had presented itself in front of him in the form of Shane. The Old Emperor thought that it was finally time to loosen his firm grasp around his daughter\'s first product, to put it to some use.

While leaving the Hidden Paradise, he couldn\'t help but become melancholic, when his eyes fell on Shane. Kalur observed the manifested magic circle in front of the Lesser Starlet Fox whose innate reflexes began to change slowly.

Instead of being angsty or angered by Shane\'s attempt to tame it, the Lesser Starlet Fox realised Shane was asking it to become his companion.

He could have also forced it into submission, but Shane didn\'t.

At the same time, the Lesser Starlet fox also knew that Shane would let it go if it were to refuse his proposal of becoming his tamed beast.

But was that what it really wanted? It was the last Lesser Starlet Fox and already lonely enough as it was, would becoming Shane\'s companion turn into a burden or worsen its situation?

It was highly unlikely and the Lesser Starlet fox overcame its wild instincts and apprehension after looking into Shane\'s eyes. It slowly approached the small magic circle in front of it carefully by taking small yet definitive steps.

However, when the crimson-colored Elemental appeared next to Shane out of nowhere, the Lesser Starlet Fox halted in its track as it stiffened involuntarily.

"What are you doing?" Old Emperor Kalur asked, not knowing whether Shane was playing around with the Lesser Starlet Fox or trying to tame it.

Even if Shane attempted to tame the Lesser Starlet fox, as long as he didn\'t force it into submission, the Old Emperor wouldn\'t say anything about it.

The Elus races\' connection to extinct beasts was weird, but it was definitely strong and completely different to beasts with a high population whom they fought against every now and then.

"I asked the Lesser Starlet fox if it wants to follow me on my journey. I believe it wouldn\'t be against the agreement I made with the Elus-race. I\'m not forcing it and the Lesser Starlet fox can do whatever it wants…"  He tried to defend himself though it was easy to perceive that Shane was adamant in taming the Lesser Starlet Fox.

"That\'s not it, just take care of it if it accepts you!" Old Emperor Kalur would have no qualms if the Lesser Starlet Fox was to accept Shane as long as he was good to the beast. Thus, he retreated a few steps and folded his hands in anticipation to look at what was about to happen.

And exactly as the Old Emperor had estimated, the Lesser Starlet fox approached the magic circle after it had calmed down from the shock of the Old Emperor\'s sudden appearance.

Only a short while later, the Lesser Starlet fox stood in the middle of the small magic circle as it began to glow brightly.

At the same time a connection between Shane and the Lesser Starlet fox slowly started to be established.

A few minutes later, a notification popped up in front of Shane as he read through the message and status panel that appeared within the system\'s holographic screen.

[Congratulations host! You\'ve tamed a \'Lesser Starlet Fox(Common)!]

There were several more notifications he had received, but Shane couldn\'t care less about them right now.

The most important information he received was that he had finally tamed his second beast and that it was the Lesser Starlet fox with its great affinity!

However, after reading through the status panel, Shane became even more interested in his new companion.

Not only was the Lesser Starlet fox\'s loyalty already at 29%, but it had the Highest-Basic Spatial affinity and an ability called [Space jump] with which Shane couldn\'t do anything.

He had no idea how the ability would benefit him, but he was sure that it was great.

But before he decided to read through the ability\'s description, he noticed that the Lesser Starlet Fox\'s quality was only [Common] which meant that it had yet to reach its true strength, speed, and racial limits.

This allowed Shane to visualize how strong the Lesser Starlet Fox might become after he enhanced its quality by one, or even multiple ranks!

He was tempted to read through the possible evolution paths, but instead of doing so immediately, he had to read through the ability\'s description.

[Space Jump] allows the user to manifest two spatial portals instantly. Not required to utilize the spatial affinity at the same time to activate the ability. Affinities or neutral mana can be exerted/circulated at the same time.

The ability seemed to be extremely powerful, and Shane asked himself if one could overlap the ability. If that was not possible, the Lesser Starlet fox might be able to use the ability and at the same time its spatial affinity to create four spatial portals at the same time.

This was something that would take its time to be practiced, but Shane couldn\'t help but feel that this would be extremely great for strategic usage.

If he and his two companions were to fight and Umbra were to jump through one of four spatial portals one of the three others could be its destination. The opponent wouldn\'t know which one it was while the Lesser Starlet Fox, Umbra, and Shane would know it as long as their communication and coordination was superb.

However, this was for the future and definitely something they had to work on.

Teamwork was important, even more so, if they had a connection with each other which they had to utilize.

Otherwise, great potential to increase their combat prowess would be wasted for nothing!

Suddenly Shane sensed that the Lesser Starlet Fox jumped on his shoulder again and tried to lay down without falling down.

After that Shane could only hear the Lesser Starlet fox\'s transmitted thought that seemed to say something similar to \'Name\'.

"You want a name?...Ehhh.." Shane knew that he had to give the Lesser Starlet fox a name, but this was something he was not proficient with.

He was extremely bad with names and couldn\'t really think of something special.

"Male...Starlet fox..Star? No....Starstream? That\'s weird….Cosmo?..Cosmo...COSMO!!"

Lifting the Lesser Starlet fox from the shoulder, he held him half a meter away from his face as he said

"Your name will be Cosmo from now on, it\'s a great one, right?"

Smiling at Cosmo, the small Lesser Starlet Fox, Shane couldn\'t help but be happy to have found his second, suitable companion!
