Chapter 987 - Heretic

Chapter 987: Heretic

“Hehe!”

Seeing the way the people from Quan Zhen Sect were treating him, Evil Rampage’s pride was at its peak. With a flop of his body, he sat on a chair with both of his legs crossed. The only thing that he felt missing was having someone fan him by the side.

Soon after, someone immediately came up and started fanning him. Fearless then said, “Now that Old Bull has reached LV 50, shall we let him see the effect of wearing a cape?”

“En! Not bad!” Upon hearing Fearless’ suggestion, Evil Rampage’s face immediately lit up. Pointing at Wang Yu, he said, “Little Yu, hurry up and put on the cape, so that big boss here can take a look at the goods!”

“Your father!” Seeing how arrogant Evil Rampage was, Wang Yu’s face darkened. He said spitefully, “You must be tired of living!”

Evil Rampage nonchalantly replied, “Hey, you say it as if your father is different from my father.”

“That’s right, Old Bull. How could you talk to Second Brother this way, hurry up and put on the cape for Second Brother to see!”

The shameless bunch from Quan Zhen Sect glared at Wang Yu.

“F*ck, you bunch of shameless b*stards!” Wang Yu wanted to cry so badly but no tears came out. Reluctantly, he took out the Angel’s Wings from his inventory and equipped it immediately.

However, the moment the item was equipped on, the sky above Twilight City instantly darkened.

Shortly after, a system announcement was made in the Global Chat.

<Public Announcement: Twilight City Lord Iron Bull, as a Neutral Faction member, has insulted and went against God and is punishable under the Heavens. Players from the Light Faction are called upon to punish this heretic. “The Light’s Oracle” has been activated. The Light’s Oracle: Within 48 hours, anybody that kills the heretic, Iron Bull, as well as any of the people in the city, will be able to receive a special reward from the Light Faction.>

The message was repeated three times. At the same time, a title “Heretic Citizen” appeared above the heads of the players of Twilight City.

Heretic Citizen (Title)

Light Faction Honor Points -20

All attributes +2

Item Description: Citizens of the Heretic, bestowed with a unique power of faith.

Above the head of Wang Yu, on the other hand, appeared an additional heretic title.

Heretic (Title)

Light Faction Honor Points -100

All attributes +10

[Leader’s Aura]: Within a range of 5000, all citizens experience a 10% in all of their attributes.

Item Description: Challenger of the Heavens.

“F*ck, what is going on?” After seeing the system’s announcement, all of the players in the game were momentarily stunned.

At this moment, everyone had either one of these two thoughts in their head.

The first train of thought was: This Iron Bull is overpowered. To think he would dare go against God...

The second train of thought was: This Iron Bull is a fool. To think that he would dare go against God...

<<REBIRTH>> was a game that was built on a religious background storyline. The players were also split into two factions of beliefs, they either believed in the Light or Dark Faction. Thus, the gods in this game could be considered almighty and omnipotent existences.

Ignoring the fact that one would need an absurd amount of power to go against God, just by its influence alone, it wasn’t something that could be challenged by a single player. The players from Twilight City were stunned as well... What the f*ck happened, how did they become the target of all the players in the game... everyone felt that they had been wrongfully dragged into this mess.

The one that was shocked the most was Wang Yu.

Wang Yu knew fully well of his capabilities.

Even though Wang Yu had the ability to solo a few BOSSes, he was completely powerless against an entity such as the Light Faction. Just recently, he had met with the Knight of the Round Table. It was one of the many NPCs that Wang Yu was unable to deal with.

The territory of the Light Faction was extremely vast, with expert guards like Esther being in the hundreds. Wang Yu’s current act was similar to that of committing suicide.

“How, how could this happen...” Wang Yu helplessly asked.

Up till now, Wang Yu had yet to figure out what the root cause of the problem was.

Evil Rampage, on the other hand, said with a look of respect, “You truly are my elder brother! Every step you take you are sure to create trouble... This time, you had actually provoked the God of Light himself.”

Wang Yu replied, depressed, “Cut the crap, I was wronged.”

“Wronged my *ss... didn’t you see the attributes of your cape?” Fearless retorted upon hearing what Wang Yu said.

The cape’s attributes? Wang Yu hastily opened up the equipment tab and started to read the lines of words written underneath the item’s description.

“As a symbol of strength of God’s most loyal follower, the Angels, <Angel’s Wings> is bestowed with immense power and utmost honor. Only followers of God are allowed to receive the blessings of God. Otherwise, anyone that equips it will be treated as heretics.”

Was Wang Yu a believer of God? Clearly he wasn’t... Wang Yu wasn’t even a player from the Light Faction, much less a believer of God. This cape could have jolly well been an extremely overpowered equipment for Priests and Knights. However, the moment Wang Yu had equipped it on, he had immediately became a heretic, en, and a dirty one at that.

“F*ck, f*ck, f*ck, f*ck! And you still asked me to equip it? Why didn’t you say so earlier?” Wang Yu was flustered; this was clearly a trap set up for him.

Fearless helplessly raised his hands and said, “I just thought of it too...”

“So what should we do now?”

At this moment, Ming Du couldn’t help but interject. It was fine if it was Wang Yu alone who had provoked the God of Light. The petty God of Light, however, decided to punish everyone including those Twilight City players. This godly artifact was certainly the worst.

Wang Yu gloomily answered, “What else can we do, just deal with it! Where else can you run?”

“This...” Upon hearing what Wang Yu said, the bunch of people from Quan Zhen Sect started to think the situation through deeply. Stroking his chin, Fearless said, “Do you think we would still have time if we choose to migrate now?”

Everyone was instantly infuriated, “That’s a terrible idea... it’s simply too unloyal.”

Fearless sighed and said, “I was just casually asking. To think that you bunch of disloyal people actually entertained such an idea.”

“Cheh, Fearless, you trash!” everyone fervently scolded.

Just when everyone was busy verbally attacking one another, Evil Rampage suddenly interjected and said, “Migrate my *ss! I can’t even leave this City!!”

“What’s the matter?” Everyone asked simultaneously.

Evil Rampage replied, “Take a look at the Quest Tab yourselves!”

Everyone immediately opened their Quest Tab, only to see a ranked Quest appear at the top of their Quest Tab.

<A Battle of Faith (Difficulty level: S)>

<Quest Description: Twilight City has become the capital of the Neutral Faction. City Lord Iron Bull has committed an act against God and has been labelled as a heretic. The Light Faction’s army will soon arrive. As a citizen of Twilight City, you have the responsibility to take up arms and fight to defend your home ground, fight for your faith.>

<Completion Criteria: Under the assault of the Light Faction’s army, defend the capital for 48 hours, up until the army has completely retreated.>

<Quest Rewards: The stronger the power, the lesser the liabilities. Only with sufficient strength can one obtain one’s freedom.>

<Punishment for Failure: Without any country, what else can you still have?>

<Quest Hint: This is a compulsory Quest. During the duration of the Quest, all teleportation points and ports will cease to function temporarily. No players are allowed to leave the Capital’s district. There is 120 minutes left until the attack of the Light Faction’s army.>

Faith your *ss... Upon seeing the Quest’s description, everyone couldn’t help but wallow in self-pity.

F*ck... now everyone has become a quest mob with a reward on their heads. If it was before, even if the players were unable to win, they could still flee from the battle. However, now that the teleportation points and ports were sealed, everyone didn’t even have the chance to escape.

As scavengers themselves, the players from Quan Zhen Sect knew full well how crazy players could get. If there were no rewards involved, everyone wouldn’t be bothered by the predicament of Twilight City. However, now that the God of Light has shown his ruthlessness, promising players a special reward from the Light Faction for participating in this battle, all of the players in Twilight City had immediately been entangled into this civil war...

How could everyone hope to survive this?
